Mr. Scott Blackwood is a full-time Music Teacher for the LA Archdiocese, teaching at both St. John Chrysostom Catholic School in Inglewood, and OLPH in Newhall. This is his second year as a music teacher, and his first at OLPH.
Mr. Blackwood has a B.A. Music Education from CSU San Bernardino, with emphases on singing and choir conducting, as well as instrumental methodology.
A convert to the Catholic faith from nominal Protestantism, Mr. Blackwood integrates faith formation in his teaching, especially in promoting an awareness of the tradition of beautiful music used throughout the Church’s history for her liturgy and spiritual expression.
Through his knowledge of instrumental pedagogy, Mr. Blackwood teaches beginner lessons on all standard school instruments, whether string, woodwind, brass, or percussion.
