JOB SUMMARY: The Response to Intervention (RTI) teacher coordinates the push-in and pull-out support in planning instruction and/or adaptation of the instructional program using the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model to facilitate student learning. The RTI teacher designs and implements specific strategies designed to promote intellectual, social and physical growth in all students identified for intervention. The RTI teacher evaluates and measures the effectiveness of specific MTSS strategies and interventions in order to refine levels of support. The RTI teacher supports the instructional programs with regular and special education teachers.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:  

  • Uses performance, survey, observation and attendance data to help teachers identify and group children who need additional support.
  • Assists teachers in developing and implementing classroom-based, developmentally appropriate interventions.
  • Supports teachers in documenting children’s progress.
  • Develops and uses instructional and behavioral support tools effectively.
  • Gathers and organizes grade-level/subject-area assessment tools and develops assessments for progress-monitoring purposes for all teachers.
  •  Implements and tracks all support for all identified students, designs systems and tools to measure its effectiveness, and refines strategies and support, as needed, to improve results.
  • Assists in scheduling, organizing and conducting RTI meetings.
  • Assists in preparing and submitting the school improvement plans for struggling learners.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records.
  • Administers and analyzes standardized testing data and adjusts instructional strategies, as needed, to maximize probability of student success.
  • Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and availability to students and parents.
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education: Bachelor’s degree with teaching credentials.

Experience: Previous instructional experience preferred.

Skills/Knowledge: 

  • General knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith.
  • Establishes and pursues professional growth goals through coursework, research, conferences, workshops and other development opportunities.
  • Maintains CPR and first-aid certification.
  • Maintains VIRTUS certification. (This can be obtained through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.)
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Displays proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and computerized software.
  • Displays proficiency in Google Classroom usage and applications and in integrating technology into the curriculum.
  • Establishes rapport, works independently, and maintains strict confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • Ability to teach mathematical concepts such as algebra as well as ELA concepts up to eighth grade.
  • Ability to use available information and develop realistic long-term and short-term plans for curricular goals.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to the instructional program.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district, state and federal requirements.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and student needs and abilities.

JOB SUMMARY: The instructional aide respects Catholic values and models Catholic living, both in and out of the classroom. The instructional aide is a paraprofessional hired to assist the classroom teacher by providing help in meeting individual student needs and creating the best possible learning environment. Mindful of the importance of student growth and achievement, the aide assists the teacher in each student’s special progress or needs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The instructional aide assists in establishing a faith-filled environment and facilitates learning for students with direction from the classroom teacher. 

General Responsibilities: 

  • As part of the educational ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, encourages daily prayer and participation in school liturgies.
  • Promotes student growth, achievement and feeling of self-worth.
  • Assists with individual and/or small group instruction by completing assigned tasks as directed by the teacher.
  • Assists classroom teacher with grading assignments and entering activities in gradebook.
  • Assists in cultivating an atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Assists in supervising the safety and well-being of each child as assigned.
  • Exhibits flexibility in the day-to-day school environment.
  • Adheres to Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Completes background checks and safe environment training.
  • Works cooperatively with all school personnel.
  • Performs additional duties as requested by the principal/teacher.

Other Responsibilities (as designated by the principal): 

  • Provides before- and after-school supervision at drop-off and pickup.
  • Supervises lunch and recess.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School is always seeking qualified substitute teachers for all grades (TK through eighth) for the upcoming year. Hours vary according to need. The ideal candidate will possess a California teaching credential or California sub credential and have some teaching/subbing experience. The ideal candidate also will exhibit flexibility of schedule, self-motivation, effective classroom management and a passion for working with the students of OLPH.
