Support Team Education Plan (STEP)

The guiding philosophy of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School is to provide a learning environment in which the academic needs of each child are met. Thus, our faculty strives to identify and further support students as best we can. At OLPH Catholic School, we use a coordinated effort to support students who encounter challenges along their educational journey. This collaborative process brings together students, parents, teachers and administrators to seek positive solutions based on a student’s strengths and unique needs to help that student benefit from and participate more fully in our school curriculum.

The STEP program reflects the school’s commitment to meeting the needs of all learners by building and maintaining strong partnerships in order to teach, inspire and nurture students. We continually seek instructional practices, educational opportunities and partnerships that can benefit all our students and families.

Response to Intervention (RTI)

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School recognizes that students around the world have suffered unprecedented levels of learning loss because of COVID-19 and schools transitioning to an online format during the pandemic. Although OLPH is proud of how fast we got students back into the classrooms full time, we know that there was learning loss due to a variety of reasons. To combat that, we made the decision to hire a Response to Intervention (RTI) teacher to help us bridge the gap. RTI is a general education framework that involves research-based instruction and intervention, regular monitoring of student progress, and the subsequent use of this data over time to make educational decisions.

We have worked diligently to implement RTI in the general education classroom through differentiated instruction. We are committed to providing an inclusive educational setting for our children to the extent possible with the resources available. More can be found on our RTI page.
